A Giant Pine Cone Made of Car Hoods

Lollapalooza Argentina was held in Buenos Aires in March. If you were there, you saw a giant pine cone as the central art structure. The installation is titled Capot, which means car hood in English. Appropriate, because this pine cone is made from 95 Volkswagen Gol car hoods! the design is from El Estudio Normal, the first part of an ongoing series called Autopartes that explores our relationship with car parts. At the music festival, Capot provided a centerpiece, a shady gathering area, and a thought-provoking conversation starter. At night, the sculpture was subtly lit from the interior, providing a stunning image against the Argentinian sunset.
