Amsterdam street artist Frank de Ruwe, who goes by the name Frankey, adds interest to mundane objects by observing them and imagining them in a whole new way. He can make a unobtrusive corner into something surprising and delightful, which encourages the rest of us to pay attention to our surroundings, and maybe let our imaginations follow in Frankey's footsteps. His little "modifications" are often quite amusing. First they are funny just because they are there where you wouldn't expect them to be. Then they are funny in the form of pareidolia verging on a visual pun. And then they are funny because he designs them to bring a smile to your face. And that's one way to make the world better. You can see more of Frankey's art at Instagram. And if you ever find yourself in Amsterdam, keep an eye out for something special where you least expect it. -via Laughing Squid ā
