If you go digging, you'll find that any commonly-shared bit of pop culture will be the subject of far-ranging artists allover the world. It's a delight to find someone who collects and curates those artworks. The European fairy tale of Little Red Riding hood goes back several centuries, is easy to remember, and can be recognized in just two iconic shapes- the red hood and the wolf. Is it any wonder so many artists have taken to this imagery?
Illustrator and artist Hazel Terry maintains a charming single subject art blog called Little Red Riding Hood and Other Wolfish Things. Terry herself is drawn to the subject and has rendered the wolf and the little girl in different mediums, like the textile illustrations you see here. The site also features other artists and the many ways they evoke the same story, whether realistic or abstract, whether frightening or whimsical, whether modern or medieval, whether straightforward or thought-provoking. You can keep up with the blog here. -via Everlasting Blort ā
