The Gripper is a creative project conducted jointly by two companies with the same name—Yamaha. The Yamaha Corporation, noted for its musical instruments, and Yamaha Motors, were once one company but are now two companies that are mostly independent of each other.
To symbolize their joint heritage but separate markets, the Gripper works like a grip exercise tool, but each of the joints are separate from each other and can be used in isolation. And, yes, it’s supposed to be reminiscent of one of Yamaha’s brass instruments.
This strikes me as not only beautiful, but a practical exercise tool for fine-tuning grip strength. Unfortunately, this is just a concept and not a product that the Yamahas plan to put into production.
